New Environment Act and Bbl bring big changes for VvEs

Stricter standards for charging stations

The law introduces stricter requirements for charging points in parking garages. All new charging points must meet mode 3 or mode 4 charging standards according to NEN 1010 standards, which are known for their safety and efficiency. In addition, a central shut-off facility is required for emergency situations such as fire, to prevent charging points from remaining energized.

Sprinkler systems for fire safety

New parking garages under high-risk buildings must be equipped with automatic extinguishing systems, such as sprinkler systems. This applies especially to garages smaller than 1,000 m² with only one escape route. These measures are designed to evacuate people safely in the event of a fire.

What does this mean for CoEs?

It is essential that CoEs understand these new rules and take action to retrofit their properties. This may include upgrading existing charging infrastructure and planning for the installation of central shut-off capabilities and sprinkler systems.

Grants available

The SVVE scheme offers subsidies to CoEs that invest in basic charging infrastructure, which can provide an additional incentive to meet the new requirements.

By preparing now, CoEs can ensure that their buildings not only comply with the new legislation, but also contribute to a safer and more sustainable Netherlands. For more information and support, VvEs can contact the Environment Information Point.
