Work resumption fund (Whk).
As a OnderhoudNL member, we are happy to help you check the Whk decision. We do this on a 'no cure no pay' basis.
About the work resumption fund (Whk).
As an employer, at the end of each year, you will receive a Workforce Investment Fund (Whk) decision from the Tax Office.
The Whk, introduced on January 1, 2007, functions as a fund to finance WGA and Sickness Benefits, among other things. As an employer, you contribute to this through the Werkhervattingskas premium.
Good to know
How is the Whk linked to the WIA scheme?
The introduction of the Whk followed that of the Work and Income according to Labour Capacity Act (WIA) in 2006. If your employee is able to earn less than 65% of their former salary after two years of illness, the WIA comes into the picture.
How does the Whk decision affect my business?
As an employer, you are responsible for WGA benefits for another ten years after two years of continued wage payment. As of 2014, these risks also apply to flex and temporary employees. The cost of benefits will be passed on through the Whk decision.
What does it mean to be self-insured?
As a self-insurer, you take responsibility for your sick (former) employees. Here you keep control yourself, rather than outsourcing the files to the UWV. You pay the benefits yourself, but keep more control over the costs and reintegration of employees.
How do I find out if self-insurance is right for me?
We offer a free Quick Scan to investigate whether self-insurance makes sense for your organization. This will give you insight into whether it is worth investigating self-risk bearing.
