It is not too late

Pension scheme for Rhine and Inland Navigation has expired – but it is not too late to act

Since January 1, 2025, the mandatory pension scheme of the Industry Pension Fund for Rhine and Inland Navigation has officially expired. Employers in the sector have therefore become responsible for setting up a suitable pension scheme for their staff themselves. Haven't arranged this yet? Then now is the time to take action.

Pension rhine and inland navigation

Since January 1, 2025, the mandatory pension scheme of the Industry Pension Fund for Rhine and Inland Navigation has officially expired. Employers in the sector have therefore become responsible for setting up a suitable pension scheme for their staff themselves. Haven't arranged this yet? Then now is the time to take action.

A preferential arrangement through AEGON

Koninklijke Binnenvaart Nederland and AEGON have developed a "Preferential Rhine and Inland Navigation Scheme": a pension scheme that is (virtually) budget neutral. Note: whether this applies to your organization depends on the composition of your employee base. So there is no "one size fits all" solution.

At Schouten Zekerheid , we are happy to help you calculate and compare the possibilities. That way you can choose a scheme that suits your company and your staff on the basis of facts.

Why retirement advice is important

Since January 1, 2025, as an employer you are no longer obliged to be a member of the BPF Rijn- en Binnenvaart. You now have to set up your own pension plan. This requires clear choices, good communication to your employees and careful implementation.

Our roadmap: insight, choices, action

Together with you, we go through a clear process:

  • Introduction & analysis of your current situation
  • Collection of data & calculations
  • Discussing options & making choices
  • Implementation & communication towards employees

We support you every step of the way - from quote requests to employee presentations.

Don't let this transition be a missed opportunity

The obligation is gone, but the responsibility remains. A good pension is and remains important for your staff. Let us help you get it right.

The impact of the pension transition scheme: start on time

When it comes to financial arrangements for employees, clarity is essential. The Future Pensions Act has already come into effect, and all schemes must be adapted to it by January 1, 2028, at the latest. Sounds clear, right? In practice, however, the transition turns out to be more complex than expected.
