I am Gerrit Bastiaan de Jong, 36 years old and living in the Hoeksche Waard. I have enjoyed working at Schouten Zekerheid for more than 3 years, 6 months of which I have been with Affinity Groups. Strangely enough, my car had been insured here for 15 years before I actually had an idea of what Schouten Zekerheid really entailed. After reconsidering my career path, Schouten Zekerheid as an employer came up in passing. However, it was then pointed out to me that I really needed to have my Wft's at the start. So I went to get them and got an interview and an entry-level position in the Private Clients department. Now you are supported by Schouten Zekerheid to obtain these certificates after starting employment.
Why the career switch to the insurance industry? Because it is a growing industry with a lot of prospects. In banks, you still see a continuous shrinkage in terms of personnel, that you are obliged to reapply for your current position every few years. I don't see that happening with us. There are also new issues here every day. So there is a lot to learn.
The nice thing about this insurance broker is that with a diverse range of colleagues, we are still one team. Fighting the clock together in order to get as much done as possible during the working day, instead of counting down after lunch until you can close up again. I end every working day with a feeling of satisfaction.
Compared to other employers, things are well organised at Schouten Zekerheid . If you have an IT problem, someone will look it over with you within an hour (remotely), instead of you being annoyed about something for days and it costing you unnecessary time. The freedom to choose whether you want to work from home or the office. Échte Zekerheid voor iedereen is not just a slogan: the possibility of a permanent contract, a 13th month, non-contributory pension and loyalty to employees give a piece of personal security. That makes Schouten Zekerheid , even in times of labor shortages, a fine employer.
