My name is Jaco Menne and I live in Rotterdam with my wife and two daughters. I work at Schouten Zekerheid as a Consultant Professional Liability.

Why the insurance industry? Why not, I would say. Clients are quick to ask you for advice when there are developments in their business in order to come up with the right (insurance) solution. That gives me energy, that you can help a client so he can focus on his own business. The best thing about my job is that I get to look behind the scenes of different companies all the time. How do they work, do they do it well and what can we learn from that. Every day you come home with another great story.

Before this, I worked for various insurers as a liability specialist and underwriter. Schouten Zekerheid was and is a client of my previous employer. I always thought of it as an energetic and friendly organization. And that was true. There is always room for good, nice people. If you have a plan and you believe in it, anything is possible. At Schouten Zekerheid we believe that with good sense and rolled up sleeves you can get a long way. That's a mentality I like. Everyone has their own strengths and together we help each other to reach a new level. And it's okay to laugh about it.

You get a lot of freedom to arrange things yourself. The basis is already there and we try to learn from each other. For example, my ambitions are to move from general knowledge to increasingly specialized knowledge. In an increasingly digital future, specialist knowledge will also be in demand. Schouten Zekerheid combines a very high digital bar with specialist knowledge. A very nice environment to work in and plenty of room to realize my ambitions.

Furthermore, there is always something to do before, during or after work. Drinks, parties, running, soccer, lunch together, an outing with your team. But also stimulation to continue learning and developing, expanding your network and going to (knowledge) gatherings.
