More about the General Surviving Relatives Act (ANW).
What and why ANW gap insurance?
The General Surviving Relatives Act (ANW) provides benefits to the partner or children after death only in a limited number of situations. As a result, the income of surviving dependents can drop significantly. The ANW gap insurance fills this gap. Read the most frequently asked questions below.
You take out the insurance easily and without a medical examination through your employer's group plan.

How high is the ANW benefit?
The ANW benefit from the government is a maximum of 70% of the minimum wage. Because this benefit is income-dependent, it may be lower.
If you choose ANW gap insurance through your employer, your partner will receive 20,354 euros per year (2025) after your death. This amount is legally increased annually.
